The eye of the viewer glances at the painting and all of a sudden an Apparition comes between him and the canvass, there is a sort of interaction where the viewer can change and compose the image at a glance. The painting becomes a screen where along the light the pictures comes to life : Sergio Castoldi's painting offers to be a transition between material painting and painting of light. The scene of the painting changes, the alternating mix of the images gives a sort of aesthetic anachronism - What are these protesters doing in the Spring ? Since some of the past events, the meaning of the word Spring has been altered, thus giving at both images an absurd sense of union, two opposite meanings that merge.
The way of creating the images which appears and disappears at Sergio Castoldi's whim is to show that the subject in question is not solely what we see or how we see it, but above all, it's about what provokes and feeds it. In Amore Divino - Umano Amore, Sergio Castoldi reaches another degree of revelation : absurdity and transparence. In this work, the divinities represented , by essence immaterial , are materialized because the act of love must be seen as an example. Whereas the humans are painted in non-color, somewhat hidden - immaterial - because the act of love is visually forbidden. The idea of being forbidden is often present in the artist's work, "his way of underlining the unspoken is the speeding engine, at times embarassing in the dynamic of his paintings". Segio Castoldi sees, thinks and paints in fusing the two first degrees to create a third sense.
